Biography: Daisey L. Merchant

September 28, 1952 – October 4, 2023

Daisey Merchant, 71, of Angleton, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, October 4, 2023
at UTMB Galveston Hospital. Visitation will be held Friday, October 13, 2023, from 2:00 p.m.
until 8:00 p.m. at Gardner’s Funeral Home 507 W. Orange St., Angleton, Texas. The
Celebration of her Life will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at FMBC
Family Life Center 523 N. Parrish St., with Reverend G.R. Holland delivering the Eulogy.
Interment will follow at Knight and Daughters Cemetery, Rosharon, Texas. She was reared in
a Christian home, and she realized God was the source and strength of all things in her
life. She attended school at Marshall High and Angleton High School, where she was a
member of the 4 X 1 relay team which won State in 1970. Daisey was in the graduating
class of 1971. She worked at Merit Medical for 23 years. She lived, worked and
worshipped in Angleton. Daisey was a colorful and candid person, full of joy and
laughter. She enjoyed playing darts, listening to music, going on girls’ trips, trail rides,
watching TV games shows, and spending time with family and friends. Daisey was
preceded in death by her father and mother, L.C. and Juanita Merchant and her son
Lawrence Donnell Merchant, her maternal grandparents, Daisy and James Shedd; and
her paternal grandparents, Stella and Mack Merchant. She leaves to mourn and
cherish her memories her son Colton Kemp, her sisters, Stella Merchant, and Sheila
Collette; her niece Juanita Merchant (Auntie’s Baby), nephew, Jerome Austin, special
cousin, Ray Magnum, her god daughter, LaJuana Luna Holt, god sister Roshella Perry.
Special Recognition to Monique Edwards and kids, Julie Kay Ford, Gwen Thomas,
Paula Lemons, Donna Harris and the Mystery Dart Team. She will be missed by a host
of other loving family and friends. Final and Most Sacred Arrangements Entrusted to Gardner
Funeral Home, 507 W. Orange Street, Angleton, TX. Online condolences may be sent to the
