Biography: Mammie Washington, the daughter of Fred Washington and Mammie Brookins Washington, was born in Alief, Texas on Monday, November 24, 1947.  She attended the Alief ISD public school system. 
Mammie was baptized at an early age, and served on the Usher board as well as in the Choir at her home church in Houston, Texas. 
Mammie met, Clarence Grice and fell in love with him and they united in Holy Matrimony on June 19, 1981 and from there they were inseparable.  The Grice’s shared their lives and love with their four beautiful children, with this same love being returned to them. 
Mammie worked at the Houston ISD as a Bus Driver, she later begins a career at Memorial Hermann Hospital and worked there until her retirement.  She enjoyed God’s Word, on-line shopping, in-store shopping and any other kind of shopping.  She also enjoyed cooking, dancing, listening to her music and playing cards with family and friends. 
After her fruitful life of Seventy-five years, seven months and 22 days, Mammie answered the Lord call and peacefully entered into eternal rest on June 16, 2023.   She was preceded in death by her husband,Clarence Grice, her parents, Fred and Mammie Washington, her daughter Wendy Washington, her grandson, Fredrick Washington; her sisters, Josephine Franklin, Luella Washington, and Willie B. Johnson; her brothers, James Washington, Willie Washington, Charles Washington, and Eddie Washington. 
Mammie leaves to cherish her beautiful life, love and legacy to her loving children; Christine Thomas, Evelyn Grice and Christopher Grice all of Houston, Texas.  Mammie also leaves her memory to her brother Fred Washington, Jr. of Anderson, Texas; her grandchildren, Cemeka Washington, Taris Washington,                   Kuviceva Grice, Kendrick  Thomas, Dominique Lewis, Viola Willis, Takia Willis, Deon Scott, and Courtney Scott; her 24 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many of her friends.
