Biography: THELMA FRANKLIN MOON
October 4, 1937 – June 18, 2023

Thelma Franklin Moon, 85, of Angleton, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, June 18, 2023,
at UTMB-Angleton Campus, surrounded by her family. Visitation for Thelma will be Friday,
June 23, 2023 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Gardner’s Funeral Home 507 W. Orange St.,
Angleton, Texas. A Celebration of her Life will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00
am at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, Angleton, Texas. Rev. T.W. Hicks, is the church
pastor, and will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Providence Baptist Church
Cemetery. On October 4, 1937 a baby girl was born to Irvin and Lula Franklin, Jr., whom they
named Thelma Lee Franklin. She attended school in Chenango and later went on to attend
Marshall High School where she graduated in the Class of 1957. She met the love of her life
Eddie Lee Moon and was united in Holy Matrimony on August 25, 1957. Thelma was a lifelong
member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as Sunday School
Superintendent for 50 years. She was also a member of the Choir, served on the Usher board, and
she utilized her talents in various departments and auxiliaries of the church. Thelma thoroughly
enjoyed spending time with her family and was affectionately known a “Maw-Maw”. She was
preceded in death by her husband Eddie Lee Moon, her parents, Irvin and Lula Franklin, Jr. and
her sister, Alene Franklin Miles. Thelma is survived and cherished by her sons, Elvis and Elton
Moon, her daughters, Karen (Sherman) Hall, Arnell Williams, and Darnell (Bruce) Sidney; her
stepson Mark Anthony McClelland; her grandchildren, Orisha Moon, Chassie (Ross) Hoskett,
Alencia (Marshall) Petite, Alicia (Terrence) Alliniece; Tamerik Williams, Cayden Hall, and
Bryce Sidney; her great grandchildren, Zoe Veal, K’yngston Roy, Madisyn Petite, Quinn
Hoskett, and Zaia Hoskett, her sister Lola Moon; her brother-in-law David Earl Moon, her
sisters-in-law, Pearlie Jones, Ann Carethers, and Verdell Johnson; her special friends, Maude
Hall, Frankie Hill and Jacquelyn Glover, her nieces, nephews and a host of other family and
