Biography: David Sellers, Jr. was born on October 11,1975 in Houston, Texas to David and Sandra Sellers.
His father worked for the City of Houston and his mother worked for HISD.
David attended Lockhart Elementary, Dowling Middle School, and graduated from Madison High
School in 1994. His first child Ashley Sellers was born in October 1992 from his relationship
with LaKeesha Kelly.
In 1995, David met Tresa Walker and three years later they would unite in Holy Matrimony in
March 1998. Through this union their son David Sellers, III was born in December 2007. In
2012, David and his wife Tresa became foster parents and ended up adopting their first set of
sisters, Sarah and Jazlynn. Six years later, they found themselves adopting another set of
sisters, Serena and Mercedes making their family complete.
David worked many years at Quest Diagnostics, then later worked as an Uber/Lyft driver.
Through this venture, he became an entrepreneur and developed a successful black car
business, Sellers Way Transportation. David has always had a passion and love for basketball,
therefore he volunteered at the YMCA as a basketball coach, training and mentoring young girls
and boys. David was very family oriented and loved spending time with his family, taking them
to parks, zoo, theme parks, etc.
David joined Spiritual Temple No. 1 in February 2017. He was baptized in October 2018.
David’s life may have been cut short, but he touched the hearts of many while he was with us.
David is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Rosie Bland and Mac Sellers;
maternal grandparents: Annie Ruth Black and Carl; his parents: David Sr. and Sandra Sellers
and father-in-law: Darrell Walker, Jr.
David is survived by his wife of 25 years: Tresa; his children: Ashley, Sarah, DJ, Serena,
Jazlynn and Mercedes; his grandson: DeMarcus Royston, Jr.; his godchildren: Tiara Lawson
and O’Neal Ray, III; his siblings: Theresa McCrary, Jason (Tabaitha) Sellers, Alandria (Nigel)
McCoy and Miriah Randle; his sister-in-law: Denetra Walker and brother-in-law: Darrell
(Jennifer) Walker; his nephews: Fredrick, Jason, Jalen and Jeremy; his nieces: Jariel, Nekae,
Alexis, Kyndall, A’Niya, Da’Sha and Olivia; his close cousin: Alex; best friend: Shawn; and a  
host of loving  aunts, uncles, cousins & friends.
