Biography: David Lee King, Sr. departed this life on Saturday, November 13, 2021, in Opelousas, Louisiana with his family by his side.  Visitation will be held Friday, November 19, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gardner’s Funeral Home 507 W. Orange St., Angleton, Texas.  A Celebration of his Life will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021 at FMBC Family Life Center, 523 N. Parrish Street, Angleton, Texas, Rev. G.R. Holland, Officiating.  Interment will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery, Brazoria, Texas.   David Lee was born on March 22, 1952, in Angleton Texas to Mary King. He attended Marshall High School in Angleton, Texas. After high school he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving from 1971 – 1975.  He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ella (LuLu) for 47 years. To this union, two children were born, Temeshe and David Jr.  David Lee was employed with the City of Angleton in the Public Works Department, working his way up to Public Works Director. He was a dedicated employee with the city for 44 years until his retirement in 2016.  David Lee never met a stranger. He cherished his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family, barbecuing, cooking, fishing, collecting Coca Cola memorabilia and trips to the casino. He also enjoyed working outside in his yard. He received “Yard of the Month” several times by the Keep Angleton Beautiful committee.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary King; brother, Paul Addison; daughter, Latrice Harris-London; aunt, Ella Thomas and uncle, Jasper King.  David Lee is survived by his beloved wife, Ella King of Angleton; daughters, Sharon Ward (Harold) of Angleton, LaTonya Wilson (Michael) of Missouri City, and Temeshe Thompson (Tramaine) of Angleton; sons, Davis Grear of Houston, and David King Jr. (Veronica) of Missouri City; sisters, Dorothy Thomas (Vaughn) of Angleton, Verda King (Butch) of Opelousas, La and DeWanna Sam (John) of Opelousas, La; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
