Biography:
Roscoe Higgins, of Angleton, peacefully departed this life on Friday morning, September 24, 2021. Roscoe was born on July 24, 1943 in East Columbia, Texas to the late Ronald Higgins and the late Rosie Bell Higgins. Roscoe was affectionately called, “Spotty” by some and “Friday” by others. His church affiliation was Greater Handy Chapel A.M.E. Church, under the leadership of Reverend Benjamin Emanuel. Truly the saying: It takes a village to raise a child. Nowhere, could that be truer than in the environment in which he was reared. Roscoe being a military child often traveled with his parents. He also attended the public schools of Charlie Brown and Marshall High School. Roscoe had many different jobs throughout his life. Roscoe was blessed with four children. He had a zest for life, loving his family and often attended family gatherings sharing his gift of laughter with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Higgins, and Rosie Bell Higgins; his son Milton Craig Chizer, and brother, Roland Higgins. His memories will remain in the hearts of his children, Deborah Cooks (Charles), Elaine Ubernosky (David), and Katina Williams; his brothers, Liscoe Higgins, Jessie Higgins, and Andrew Higgins (Lorraine); his aunts, Tenola Franklin and Idell Amboree (J.D.), his grandchildren and great grandchildren; his god-brother, Joel Rossow, and a host of nieces, nephews and numerous other loving relatives and friends. There will be a visitation in his honor, Friday, October 1, 2021, 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gardner’s Funeral Home 507 W. Orange, Angleton, Texas. The Celebration of his Life will be Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Bethelder Baptist Church, 6103 W. RM 1462, Rosharon, Texas with Reverend L. Robinson, Officiating, and Reverend O. Palmer, Eulogist. His Final resting place will be at Paradise Cemetery, 182 Jefferson Street, West Columbia, TX. Due to the COVID-19, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
