Biography: Leonard Joe Henderson, of Angleton, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Cypress Woods Care Center, in Angleton.  On the fall day of May 29, 1945, a handsome life began in Angleton, when the late Clarence and Ruth Henderson, became proud parents of a handsome baby boy whom they named Leonard Joe Henderson.   Leonard Joe received Christ to be his personal Lord and Savior in his youth. He was a member of Community of Love United Methodist Church. He attended and graduated from Marshall High School in Angleton with the Class of 1964.  Leonard lettered in football for Marshall High.  Afterwards he proudly enlisted in the United States Army.  The next chapter of his life involved him working 25 years for Continental Cans in   California, and Zackery Construction in Freeport, Texas.   Leonard Joe loved and spent many years with his companion, Anita Rice.  Their time together along with his other family and friends included, talking, laughing, and joking around time with family, and Friday night Wildcat football events.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ruth Henderson; grandmother, Sadie Brown; cousins Chaney Davis, Karrie Robinson, Sharon Brown, Donna Thompson, and Gerald Robinson.  Leonard Joe leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted companion Anita Rice, of Fresno; cousins,  Beverly Nelson, of Clute,  Frank Robinson, Katie Robinson, and Larry Davis, all of Angleton, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous other loving  relatives and friends.  There will be a  visitation in his honor will be Friday, September 3, 2021, 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gardner’s Funeral Home 507 W. Orange, Angleton, Texas.  The Celebration of his Life will be Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at FMBC Family Life Center, 523 N. Parrish St., Angleton, Texas  77515 with Reverend Dr. Dorothy Smith-Hubbard, Officiant and Eulogist.  Burial will at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas.   Due to the COVID-19, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing
