Biography: Lula Crawford-Preston, of Rosharon, passed away peacefully on August 26, at Pearland Memorial Herman Hospital. On a beautiful fall day November 1, 1938, a baby girl was born to George Crawford Sr. and Lue Kemp Crawford. They named her Lula Laverne Crawford. She spent her entire childhood in the Sandy Point Community. Lula Crawford received her formal education at Booker T. Washington School, Sandy Point TX. She also attended Marshall High School, where she later graduated. She later met and married Allen Smith Sr., and to this union four children were born. He preceded her in death. In her adulthood, Lula Crawford worked at Winchester Lodge taking care of the elderly. She later joined Fort Bend Independent School District where she retired. In her spare time Lula would always go to the Bingo Hall on Senior Citizens Day, participating in crafts and games. She also enjoyed watching TV game shows. Lula Crawford-Preston leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter; Patricia Harbor (Stanley Sr.) of Rosharon, three sons; Bruce Smith of Rosharon, Allen Smith and Terry Smith of Houston; one brother, George Crawford Jr. (Lovie) of Pearland. Five grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by one “special friend” Michael Williams and two close buddies Nancy Woods, and Celeste Wyatt- Brooks. A host of nieces, nephew’s relatives and friends. There will be a visitation in her honor will be Friday, September 3, 2021, 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gardner’s Funeral Home 507 W. Orange, Angleton, Texas. The Celebration of her Life will be Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 572 County Road 42, Sandy Point, Texas with Reverend Larry D. Brooks, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Paradise South Cemetery, 16000 Cullen Blvd. Pearland, Texas. Due to the COVID-19, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
