Biography: Viola Mae Quiller, a beautiful baby girl, born on September 10, 1954, in Galveston, Texas to her loving parents, Willie Quiller and Margaret Quiller. Having a relationship with God at an early age she was baptized and answered the call of salvation, under the leadership of Rev. Singleton at Danbury Baptist Church, Danbury, Texas. New Bethel Baptist Church was her childhood church. In later years she united with New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Viola had a love for God and ministry. At New Jerusalem Baptist Church, her involved ministries were Pastor’s Aid, Kitchen Staff, and Mime Men. All were impactful ministries for her.
Viola attended Marshall High School until integration. In 1973 Viola graduated from Angleton High School prior to graduation she was very active in sports, particularly basketball. Viola was a part of the State Championship Basketball Team.
God blessed Viola with three sons. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her greatest joy was her family, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Viola was colorful and candid, and no one ever wondered what was on her mind.
On Wednesday evening, March 31, 2021, Viola peacefully entered the gates of heaven and made it her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Quiller, Sr., siblings, James Woodard, Robert Runoalds, Perry Quiller, Charles Quiller, Willie Quiller, Jr., F.D. Quiller, and Gloria Gene.
Her memories will remain forever in the hearts of her sons, Sandy Quiller (Cynthia), Dean Jones, and Carey White; her mother, Margaret Quiller; her sisters, Ella Marrow, Bessie Higgins, Ary Wilson (Deacon William), and Jacquelyn Coleman (Kirk); her sister-in-law, Katie Hinds (Gordon); her brothers, Lionell Quiller, and Lawrence Quiller (Sandra); her grandchildren, Kristopher Quiller (Klarissa), Anthony Quiller, Jordan Quiller, Quea Lunford (Darion), Kimberly Jones, Dashawn Jones, Tavius Clark, Sole Jones, Jermaine Jones, Jamal Jones, Caliyah White, and Calee White; 13 great grandchildren; her special nieces, Elaine Ubernosky (David), Yvette Higgins, and Sherica Clark-Nelms (Michael); her special “Son”/Nephew, Cedric Cooks; best friends, Carolyn Gaul (Stanley), Dorothy Darthard (Terry), and Linda Preston (Fenton); also a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
