Biography: Cherrie Mae Ward was called home to the Lord on November 15, 2020. Cherrie Mae was born, April 16, 1932, to John Henry and Thelma Thomas. She attended school in Brazoria and later in Angleton, Texas.
Cherrie Mae accepted Christ at an early age, at First Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully until her death. She was a member of the Senior Ushers, Seniors on the Move for Christ, Women Mission, and served in Lincoln Southern District as long as she was able to do so. Her faith and love for God was evidenced throughout her life.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to James Ward, Sr. for over 60 years.
She was a friend to all and helped anyone in need. She was a very special person.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ward, Sr.; her father and mother, John and Thelma Thomas; her daughter, Susie Branch; her sons, Andrew Ward, James Ward, Jr., and Emmitt Ward; her sister Dollie Mae Thomas; her brothers, Ernest “Sparky” Thomas, Moses “Big Six” McDonald, Howard “Lil Six” McDonald, Robert “Bobby” Matthews, and Albert “Shuley” Matthews; her sisters-in-law, Mary King, Ella Thomas, Jewel Holmes and Deloris Helms; her brothers in law, William Addison, Sr., Leon Jackson, and Jerry Stoner; her son-in-law, Roy Willis, Sr.; her grandchildren, Francesha Ward, and Victoria Ward, and her great grandsons, Jaeden Ward, and Javari King Walker.
Cherrie Mae leaves a lifetime of precious and loving memories to her daughters, Jessica Willis, Debora Duplechain (Edward), Jenefer Ward, Frankie Ward, and Rosie Davis (Charlie); her sons, Vincent Ward (Gloria), and Harold Ward (Sharon); sister Evelyn Thomas, brother, John Henry Thomas; sisters-in-law, Mary Matthews, and Linda Thomas; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends. Best friend and special cousin, Eddie Mae Jones, special friends, Charlesetta Merchant, Gloria Robinson, and Dee Dee Turner.
