Biography: Celebration of life for Yonnie Kaye Diggs, 65, of Houston, Texas, formerly of West Columbia, Texas will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Paradise Cemetery, 182 Jefferson, St., West Columbia, TX, Reverend Alonzo Brown, officiating. Yonnie, passed away peacefully, Sunday August 9, 2020 with her family there to comfort her. Visitation will be held from 2:00PM – 8:00PM on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Gardner’s Funeral Home, 507 W. Orange, Angleton, Texas. Due to the current situation concerning the COVID-19, the family is concerned about everyone’s health and safety, therefore attendance will be limited, everyone is asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Thank you so much for the outpouring of phone calls, love and prayers. Yonnie was born in Galveston, Texas to Selena and Alphonse Diggs. Yonnie started school at Charlie Brown and went on to graduate from Columbia High School in 1974. She led a charmed life and loved being in the company of friends and family. They could always count on a call from Yonnie asking: “What you doing? – Ok, I was just calling checking on you.” At gatherings everyone knew that her drink of choice was COKE. Yonnie is survived by her mother, Selena Flannel, her step-mother Virginia Diggs; her sisters, Viva Carson (Michael), Barbara Hayes (Robert), Connie Phillips (Larry), Esther Mae McDonald and Margo Diggs; her brothers, Marvin Flannel (Reeva), and Joe Williams (Ethel); her aunts Bessie Stewart, Essie Tolbert, Delores Ford, Daisy Mae Jennings, Sadie Mae Diggs, and Helen Braziel; her uncles, Oscar Lee Diggs, John Henry Diggs, Douglas Flannel (Annette) and Charles Flannel
