Biography: Oh what a rejoicing day it was when a joyous baby girl, Georgia, was born on January 26, 1932 to George & Lou Kemp Crawford, Sr. She spent her childhood in the Sandy Point Community.
Georgia Crawford Cooks received her formal education at Booker T. Washington School in Sandy Point, TX. She also later attended Jack Yates High School. In her adulthood, she worked for years as a housekeeper at Angleton-Danbury General Hospital and at a nursing home. In her spare time, she loved to fish, play her Word-Find puzzle in her book and watch all her favorite TV game shows.
She accepted Christ at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Sandy Point, TX at an early age under the leadership of Pastor Griffin and has remained a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Larry D. Brooks, Sr. She served on the usher board until the Lord called her home.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: sisters, Jerlene Sanders, Herlene Robinson, Creasie Butler, Elizabeth King; brother, James Crawford; great grandson, Lawerence Cooks, Jr. and her beloved husband, Frank Cooks, Sr.
She later met Frank Cooks, Sr. They later united in marriage where four beautiful children were born in this union and whom she leaves to cherish: Otis Hervey Jr.(Angela) of Columbus, GA; Linda Preston(Fenton) of Rosharon, TX; Mable Davis of Rosharon, TX; Frank Cooks, Jr.(Clandra) of Freeport, TX. She had 12 grandchildren in which two of whom she raised: Lawerence “Cedric” Cooks, Sr. and Chantal “Vet” Cooks of Rosharon, TX. She also leaves two siblings: sister, Lula Crawford Preston and brother, George Crawford, Jr.(Lovie); 26 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; special niece, Debra Cooks and a host of nieces and nephews
