Biography: Philip was born to the union of Louis Jackson and Viola Holmes on June 21, 1943 in Evergreen, Louisiana. He attended public school in Louisiana. In later years, he moved to Houston, Texas and worked for Manhattan Construction Company for over 30 years.
Philip and his loving and caring wife Lily met each other when they both worked in Houston in the Texas Medical Center. They have been married for over 41 years. With their three sons, Philip and Lily were foster parents for 10 years for Depelchin Children who were all teenage boys. Phillip was a kind and gentle man who was always reaching out to help his fellow man.
Philip was a member of New Revelation Missionary Baptist Church. There he served as a deacon and a faithful member until his health started declining. On September 2, 2019, Philip fell and sustained a compound fracture of his left thigh bone. He made considerable progress in healing and rehabilitation over a period of nearly 6 months but developed other complications causing him to have to be readmitted to the hospital several times. Following this extended illness, he departed this life at Cypress Woods Nursing Facility on Monday, February 24, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Jackson; mother, Viola Holmes; son, Jimmy Lloyd Washington, Jr. and sister, Beaulah Holmes.
Philip leaves to cherish his life and loving memories, a loving and devoted wife, Lily Mae Jackson, Chenango, Texas; 2 sons, Kent Washington (Andrea) and Kirk Jackson (LaShon) both of Houston, Texas; daughter, Althea Dillingham, Nebraska; brother, Larry Holmes (Jeline), Montgomery, Alabama; sister, Wilma Phillips (Louis), Houston, Texas; 2 brothers-in-law, Eugene Mucker, Fresno, Texas and Howard Mucker, Angleton, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; special friends and family Emmett and Rosie Roberson and Rev. Tommy and Debra Smith, both of Houston, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
